Can't believe it is the last Monday of the year! Wow!
Today I reminded all students that locker clean-out is Wednesday, so it is a good idea to bring a Martin's bag (or two) to school to bring home locker supplies. Wednesday is also textbook return day! Bring in the textbooks you have from home!
I still have a grade or two that will be entered in HAC this week, but check now to see what you have missing!
P. 1,4: Today we finished our "Elements of Suspense" chart and reviewed the theories on the events of "The Hitchhiker." That's what a great story does...it makes us think and have different opinions! We started writing the intro and conclusion of our argument letters regarding the Barefoot Bandit.
P. 2,5,6: Class started with an explanation of how students can prepare for Socratic on Wed. They will be answering the question: How "American" do immigrants have to become to fit into America? Should they shed their traditions and values to be "more American," or should they retain their traditions and function within their subculture in America? Students are expected to use the two t-charts that went with their culture novels. After that, we began "I Have a Dream" as the 3rd persuasive document.
H/W: Collect your t-charts for Seminar on Wed.
See you tomorrow!
